A Very, Very Detailed Day in the Life of Aias

The following is an account of one day in the life of Aias Jeffrey Dalman. On this pretty average Friday, I was 3 months 1 week and 4 days old. It's VERY DETAILED!!!

Note: Lots of nursing pictures! It's how babies eat, not sexual! We are happy and comfortable with it and we hope that someday everyone will feel comfortable with it and more babies will be breast fed.

1. Good Morning!!! It's 8:45 am and I've been awake for about 20 minutes. I had my morning helping of Bewb while mommy got a few extra minutes of sleep in, and then she hopped up to get the camera. From the picture, you'd think I sleep between mommy and daddy... don't worry, I don't. I just hog the bed unbelievably. See that space on the left by my crib? I should be sleeping there. Instead, I want to be here, with mommy on her side to the right, and daddy hanging off the bed. That's how I roll.

3 Months, 1 Week, 3 Days

Ah yes, the first nap of the day. He denied himself this great pleasure for 2 days in a row so I was starting to think that it was extinct, but today he's decided to re-adopt it. This post and clean laundry are brought to you today by nap #1!

It's so sunny and beautiful outside right now, but I will not dare interrupt this nap. Aias has been sleeping through the night and quite frankly, I DO NOT WANT. Because honestly, even if he sleeps through the night, I don't. I wake up every 2 hours or so to check if he's breathing and poke him accordingly. Also when he sleeps through the night, he doesn't wanna take as many or as long naps during the day. I seriously want to get him past 4 months (peak of SIDS risk) and then past 6 months (risk goes down considerably) and then he can start sleeping through the night if he wants. When he doesn't sleep through the night, he basically just wants food twice, which means he rolls over to me, eats, we sleep. He never wants a new bum at night anyway, so as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't care if he didn't sleep through the night for the next 2 years. Even Morgan gets up to look and see if he's breathing now, so really? STTN = Overrated.

Yesterday was Pay Day so we went and bought the toy we have been EAGERLY awaiting:

Holy smokes. This thing not only puts Aias to sleep in like 10 minutes, it puts ME to sleep. The thing honestly trips me out. The fish, crab, and plants inside it actually move in this really hypnotizing fashion, and the lights flash gently according to the music and there are water bubbles. We've only used one setting and are very satisfied; I can't wait to explore the other settings. It also has a remote control so you can turn it on and off from the doorway, or in our case, from the bed so that we don't need to lean over into the crib.

We also got a tray for our Bumbo, because I was hoping that would help make it more fun, but I'm really unsure about the Bumbo. Honestly, I wanted to LOVE the Bumbo. I love the idea of it; a place he can sit and play with his toys (since he LOVES being upright). The reality is, it looks like it folds him in half, and his diaper cuts into him when he sits in it, so we have to either loosen his diaper or sit him on a prefold/cover while he's in there, and that just exposes the fact that so much of his support is actually dependent on his fluffy butt. I'm going to give it another month probably, and it doesn't look better to me, it's getting sent off to Craigslist. He seems indifferent about it, but I'm really sensitive about his comfort level.

Anyway, he now has the hiccups which will no doubt wake him up, so I better end this rambling =)

3 Months and 2 Days

We made it to 3 Breast Feeding Months and we're still going strong!

Same spot, same outfit, 3 Months later =)

He was about 6lbs in the before picture and he is about 12lbs3oz in the after picture. I think the milk has been doing the job nicely.

Rings and Things

They have 12 packs of these in rainbow colours at the Dollar Giant and seriously... best dollar I've spent on this kid. He can't get enough of them. AND they are BPA Free!!! We are going to walk to the drive tomorrow to get a few more packs. They sell packs of them at Shopper's Drug Mart and Kids R Us for like $9.99 for the exact same thing... I can clip his toys to his stroller or to my bra or to the Moby or to the bouncer or to the crib.... you get the idea!
