Ah yes, the first nap of the day. He denied himself this great pleasure for 2 days in a row so I was starting to think that it was extinct, but today he's decided to re-adopt it. This post and clean laundry are brought to you today by nap #1!
It's so sunny and beautiful outside right now, but I will not dare interrupt this nap. Aias has been sleeping through the night and quite frankly, I DO NOT WANT. Because honestly, even if he sleeps through the night, I don't. I wake up every 2 hours or so to check if he's breathing and poke him accordingly. Also when he sleeps through the night, he doesn't wanna take as many or as long naps during the day. I seriously want to get him past 4 months (peak of SIDS risk) and then past 6 months (risk goes down considerably) and then he can start sleeping through the night if he wants. When he doesn't sleep through the night, he basically just wants food twice, which means he rolls over to me, eats, we sleep. He never wants a new bum at night anyway, so as far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't care if he didn't sleep through the night for the next 2 years. Even Morgan gets up to look and see if he's breathing now, so really? STTN = Overrated.
Yesterday was Pay Day so we went and bought the toy we have been EAGERLY awaiting:
Holy smokes. This thing not only puts Aias to sleep in like 10 minutes, it puts ME to sleep. The thing honestly trips me out. The fish, crab, and plants inside it actually move in this really hypnotizing fashion, and the lights flash gently according to the music and there are water bubbles. We've only used one setting and are very satisfied; I can't wait to explore the other settings. It also has a remote control so you can turn it on and off from the doorway, or in our case, from the bed so that we don't need to lean over into the crib.
We also got a tray for our Bumbo, because I was hoping that would help make it more fun, but I'm really unsure about the Bumbo. Honestly, I wanted to LOVE the Bumbo. I love the idea of it; a place he can sit and play with his toys (since he LOVES being upright). The reality is, it looks like it folds him in half, and his diaper cuts into him when he sits in it, so we have to either loosen his diaper or sit him on a prefold/cover while he's in there, and that just exposes the fact that so much of his support is actually dependent on his fluffy butt. I'm going to give it another month probably, and it doesn't look better to me, it's getting sent off to Craigslist. He seems indifferent about it, but I'm really sensitive about his comfort level.
Anyway, he now has the hiccups which will no doubt wake him up, so I better end this rambling =)
